Abstract
A design and first test results of the trigger array and its electronics are presented. The array will provide a trigger for the S$\pi$RIT TPC as well as a veto signal for its gating grid. It will operate inside the SAMURAI magnet chamber and will use the MPPCs as the light sensors.
