Abstract
We will discuss the connections among the neutron-proton effective mass splitting, the momentum dependence of the isovector potential and the density dependence of the symmetry energy, and present a brief review on the recent progress of these issues, mainly from the study of nuclear structure, optical model analyses of nucleon-nucleus scattering, and heavy ion collisions.
